A Pilgrimage to Meru

Elsa the lioness died in 1961 but her pride - Elsa’s Pride - lives on in the beautiful Meru National Park in Kenya where she was born. And so it was that when No Strings worked with Born Free on their Human Elephant Conflict project, we brought a friend. Or rather, we had no choice.

Leo with Elsa’s portrait

Leo the lion has dreamt his whole life of walking in the ‘spoor’ steps of his ancestor, and when the opportunity arose to accompany Moses and Victor of the Born Free Pride of Meru monitoring team on their early morning rounds, well, here’s your chance to watch his interview with them, and catch a glimpse of some actual lions (sorry Leo) that trace a direct lineage to Elsa.
